【英國升學】牛津郡教育資源豐富學術氣息濃厚公校私校選擇多

英國牛津郡（Oxfordshire）可是無人不曉的知名大學城。自從大學學府於十一世紀末出現後，已有約一千年歷史的文學底蘊，其牛津大學更是英語世界中最具歷史的大學，及為世上第二古老的高等教育學府，擁有崇高的學術文化地位。歷年來在牛津大學畢業的學生更是不計其數，當中除包括戴卓爾夫人、貝理雅及卡梅倫等二十六位英國首相，也有三十位其他國家元首及大約五十位諾貝爾獎得主。

牛津郡亦是升學移居熱點，除了牛津大學外，坐擁舉世知名的聖瑪利亞大教堂、哈利波特場景基督書院、購物天堂Westgate Oxford及Bicester Village Outlet。從牛津大學城乘火車到倫敦市中心，直達Paddington站約需四十二分鐘，交通十分方便。

筆者認為，環境對於學習尤其重要。牛津大學一直為整個牛津郡注入濃濃的學術氣息。除了牛津大學城，郡內還有其他幾個主要城市，如北部Banbury、 Bicester、和Chipping Norton；以及南部的Abingdon、Wantage、Didcot、Wallingford 和 Henley-on-Thames。而牛津郡教育資源豐富，區內的中小學校網亦備受追捧，牛津郡周圍有很多學校可供選擇──郡內共有三百一十六所公立小學、幼兒學校，其中超過三分之二的獲Ofsted評級為Outstanding或Good；備受推崇的公立小學包括：Windrush Valley Primary School、St Andrew’s Church of England Primary School、Cholsey Primary School、Benson Church of England Primary等。

中學方面，牛津郡內共有三十一所公立中學，超過50%（即十六所）被Ofsted評級為Outstanding或Good，包括：Cherwell School、Matthew Arnold School、Cheney School、Burford School、Chipping Norton School。

牛津郡私立學校成績更突出

公立學校優秀，私立學校更加是出類拔萃。牛津的私校歷來在A-Level成績中名列前茅，許多學生順利進入牛津劍橋大學。英國國家中學成績排名表每年計算在 A-Level中獲得A*至B級的考試成績的百分比，以及在GCSE和iGCSE中獲得A*和A級以及獲得9、8 和 7級成績的考生的百分比。牛津郡的Magdalen College School在整個英國排名第三，96.1% 的學生在A-Level中獲得A*-B；而位於牛津Summertown的Oxford High School排名第十。位於阿賓登（Abingdon）的St.Helen & St.Katherine中學排名第四十一，而鄰近的Abingdon School排名第四十四；著名女校Headington School排在第八十七；而牛津的d'Overbroeck's和St Edward's School也進入了前一百五十名；在Banbury的私立學校Tudor Hall School、西牛津郡的Kingham Hill School、Headington的Rye St Antony School和Oxford Sixth Form College也榜上有名。
